Always Tired? Here is a Simple Solution
Do you sometimes feel a sudden slump in the late morning or early afternoon?
So what do you do?
Fuel up on your favorite caffeinated beverage to get you through the day.
You could not be getting enough water.
We need water. Our bodies are made up of mostly water. Everything happening in the body does so in a solution of water.
Water is being used and eliminated from our bodies all the time. We need to replenish it.
When we urinate or sweat, we are getting rid of toxins and stuff, along with a lot of water. We lose a lot of water just breathing.
When we don’t get enough water, we feel tired.
You may need more water than you are getting.
One reason for this is thinking that any beverage will do. Not true.
First of all, caffeinated beverages actually dehydrate. The net effect of drinking a caffeinated beverage is to use up more water than is taken in.
Beverages that contain sugar are dehydrating – for example, fruit juice, sodas, and flavored water. Additionally, sugar puts a heavy load on the body. Anything with artificial sweeteners is also harmful and associated with disease.
How much water do you need?
A rule of thumb is half your body weight (pounds) in ounces.
So, if you weigh 140 lbs, you need 70 oz of water/day. A cup is 8 oz, so divide by 8 to get the number of cups of water needed daily — in this example, 8–9 cups.
Activity level and temperature will impact how much water you need, too.
Here are some tips for drinking more water:
Start your day with a glass of water. Overnight your body is busy detoxing and doing other jobs, so you wake up slightly dehydrated. When you start your day with a glass of water, you flush out toxins from your body.
Drink pure water. Tap water is fine, just filter it. Even a countertop filter will do to take out chlorine and other chemicals.
If you want to change the taste, add lemon, cucumber or mint. You can set a jug on your counter and let the taste infuse in the water.
Next time you feel tired, try a glass of water rather than caffeine. Wait 10 minutes. You might find yourself rejuvenated!
